Trying something new

My wife and I got married in Vermont almost a year ago.  While there, we fell in love with the idea of eating locally produced food.  It's a very fashionable thing up there, it seems.

So, we're looking at the 100 Mile Diet, and this year for the first time ever, we're going to try to grow some vegetables in our little garden space.  This is where you come in:  I need some tips.  I've never done this, so if you've grown a vegetable garden, tell me what you've grown and some tips on how to grow my own vegetables.  If you have any tips, or if you think I'm wasting my time, let me know in the comments section below.

That damn weather man

He's forecasting SNOW on Monday.  SNOW!  Freakin' SNOW!  I'm so tired of this crappy weather.  It's time for sun and 70's every day.  Not just a tease like this last week has been.

No sense complaining, though, huh?  It's not like we can change the weather...  or can we??  (DANGER:  That's a link to some moonbat blog.  Also, just so you know, I don't believe any of that conspiratorial clap trap about the government altering the weather.)

I've received a ton of recommendations about where Jim and I should dine next.  I'll have to talk with him to see where he'd like to go.  I'll let you know next time.

Gas prices got you down?

We're all having a tough time at the pump, right?  Here's an opinion piece from the Burlington Free Press (that's Burlington, Vermont by the way.  One of my favorite cities, don't 'cha know) written by a taxi driver.  The piece addresses how he's saving money at the pump.  I was amazed by some of his suggestions.  You may be too.

What should I write about?

So I was sitting at the desk, wondering what to write about, when it struck me.  I've been mentioning to almost anyone that will listen that I need to practice my Spanish speaking skills.  I need to improve my listening and speaking ability, actually.  I have mentioned to my wife I don't know how many times that I need to find someone to practice with.  I've studied Spanish 4 years in high school 2 years in college, and I have a Nicaraguan friend that I've emailed for almost 4 years, but I need to work on listening and speaking.  So, I'm putting out the call.  Si hablas español, quiero hablar contigo.  Tengo que practicar hablando y escuchando con alguien.  Me puedes ayudar?  If so, let me know in the comments section, or email me (dguisinger@whbc.com or donguisinger@gmail.com).  Let me know if you're interested in helping me out.
