Happy Birthday to me

Oh sure, I'm a couple of days early, but my birthday present arrived yesterday.

I'm so damned tired of the winter

I know I'm not alone.  I've never been this tired of snow and cold before, but I've had my fill of it.  I'm done with the snow, the freezing rain, the bitter rip-off-your-clothes-it's-so-freakin'-strong wind....  I'm just done with it.

I know I should be looking forward to the change in seasons, but when the weather service just keeps issuing Winter Storm Watches and Winter Weather Advisories, it's tough to remain optimistic.  But I'm trying.  My wife and I started some seeds in the house this past weekend (not the weekend we just finished, the one before), and we're starting to see some sprouts emerge from the dirt.  It's nice to see something green... and for once it isn't mold on something we've left in the 'fridge too long.

The end o' the weekend

And quite an uneventful one at that.  My wife and I debated whether or not we should go see President Clinton at Timken High on Sunday.  We decided that we had other things to do rather than stand in line for hours to get a view of the former President from the back of an auditorium.

We've finally moved all of our stuff into our new place.  It's hard to believe that we have managed to accumulate so much stuff...until it's time to put it all away.  My wife and I spent the evening unpacking, building our new TV stand, and running wires for our surround sound system. 

There really is no easy way to hide the wires that run to the two speakers that reside behind the couch.  I may just have to put down rugs, and run the wires under the rugs.  I'm not going to drill into the wall to run the wires.  First of all, that might violate my lease.  Secondly, that's just a major pain in the ass.  I'll get it figured out though, so don't worry about it.

I'm impatient...

which is why I walked up to the Board of Elections yesterday and voted an absentee ballot.  I guess I just got caught up in the election fever that swept through the Potomac River valley.  There was actually a line to vote yesterday, which was a nice change of pace.  Usually when I go into the Board of Elections (which is more frequent than even I ever expected), I'm the only one at the counter.  But not yesterday.  I did go in prepared, though.  I downloaded a form from the Secretary of State's office to apply for an absentee ballot.  That way I didn't have to do that at the BOE.  I was in and out of there in less than 5 minutes.  I suppose I'm so quick because I know how I want to vote before I actually arrive at the polls (unlike most people, it seems).

Whether you vote absentee before March 4, or at your local polling location on March 4, I'd like to say thank you for voting.  If you don't vote...then you can shut the hell up for the next 4 years.
