The last Monday of January

We're almost exactly half-way through Winter. Excuse me while I do my happy dance. Ok, I'm back. That always gets my blood flowing.

Since we're half-way through Winter, the oddest of all holidays is coming up this weekend. Yep, it's that time again. Create a Vacuum Day is exactly one week from today, and I'm so excited I may just implode. According to holidayinsights.com, the history of Create a Vacuum Day have been lost to antiquity, or rather, merely forgotten. I think this is a shame. We should remember the meaning behind this illustrious holiday. We need to embrace this great holiday, and we need to celebrate this day every year. In fact, it should be a required day off for everyone.

Now, you may be asking yourself, "Don, didn't you forget about a real holiday that is coming up this weekend?". Well, first of all, I don't care much for your tone, sir.  Secondly, stop talking to yourself.  You're frightening the children.  Thirdly, yes, I could have mentioned that Candlemas is this weekend. But that's not really an obscure holiday. We all know about it. We all celebrate it. So why talk about it?

Friday!

I don't have much to offer.  This has been a slow week, except for the meltdown we had here at the radio station yesterday.  Everything is back to normal today, though.  It looks like our webstreaming is set back a few days until the manufacturer of our computers can fix whatever went south yesterday.  It is coming, though.

I know we've been saying that for awhile now, but the streaming will be coming very soon.  So chill out, will ya?

Avenue Q

As I mentioned in my previous post, I went to see "Avenue Q" at Playhouse Square.  I loved it.  My wife loved it.  The play is hilarious, the music was great, and the theater was sold out.

The story is about a young college grad named Princeton, who moves into an apartment building managed by Gary Coleman in a neighborhood where the rents are affordable.  He and his friends from the neighborhood try to find their purpose in life, and try to figure out who they are.  Essentially Sesame Street for adults, "Avenue Q" teaches things that Sesame Street should have taught us, like the fact that the internet is for porn, that it's possible to be downsized before your first day of work, and that we're a little bit racist.  Heck, it even has the best puppet sex scene since Team America.

So, long story long, I give "Avenue Q" 4 stars.

And the damn theme song is still stuck in my head.

It's Friday

I'm pretty excited. This weekend my wife and I are going to get some culturin' at Playhouse Square. We're going to see the play Avenue Q at the Palace Theater in downtown Cleveland.

I'll have a report on Monday. Until then, enjoy some MXC goodness.
