Christmas is over

and not a moment too soon, too!  I think I was going to freak out if I heard "Someday at Christmas" just one more time.  It would not have been a pretty sight, I assure you.

How was your Christmas?  Mine was very nice.  I got a lot of great things, and I gave a lot of great things.  I spent time with both sides of the family this year, which was nice.  I always dread going to family events.  I'm not sure why that is.  Probably because the only thing that people every talk to me about is work.  Now, I don't know about you, but I don't like to talk about work when I'm not at work.  I'm more than my profession.

However, I don't really know how well other members of my family know me.  They may not know about my hobbies or interests.  We're really not that close.  I always kind of admired my wife because she spends time with some of her cousins.  The only time I see my cousins is on a holiday or funeral.  And even then, we don't really talk to each other.  It seems that the only thing we have in common is ancestry...and a love of food.

As I mentioned above, I got some great gifts this year.  But the best gift I received, was a phone call from my pen pal in Nicaragua.  Edgard and I have been friends for almost 4 years.  We email each other at least once a month, entirely in Spanish.  Molly and I had just finished watching the Simpsons' Movie (thanks brother Phil Good) and were getting ready for bed, when I got the call.  It was a thrill to finally be able to speak with someone that I have been writing to for so long.  It was also an eye opener.  I need to practice speaking (and listening to spoken) Spanish.  If anyone out there wants to help me out here, it will be appreciated.

Finally,  Molly and I went to see Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story over the weekend.  I was worried that it wasn't going to be all that great.  After all, I've been dissapointed with Judd Apatow movies in the past.  But this movie was HILARIOUS!  Go see this movie!  John C. Reilly is great as usual, Jenna Fischer is amazing (and hot as always), and Chris Parnell is in it (If he's in a movie, you know it's going to be good).

That's it for now.  I hope your Christmas was great.  If you don't celebrate Christmas, I hope your holiday went / is going well.

Howdy

I don't know why, but I find myself saying using that greeting much more than I should.  It's kind of a silly word, don't you think?  I try not to say it, but invariably I'll say it at least once a day.

Actually, I find myself saying all kinds of words and phrases that I wouldn't normally think I'd say.  Like "alrighty", "okie-doke", and my all time favorite "sure, no problem".  That last one frequently gets me in trouble, or at least takes me away from what I'm supposed to be doing at the time.  I guess it could be worse, though.  I could start using funny little sayings like they do in the south.  Think Dan Rather or your goofy southern aunt here.  You know the stuff I'm talking about here.  Annoying little phrases like "you're a cute as a junebug", "you're the bee's knees", and "courage".  (I suppose that wasn't really fair to Dan Rather.  I'm sure he doesn't read my blog, but just in case he does I want to let it be known that I'm a big fan of his work on HDNet.)

Aside from all of this, I should point out that the Website Development Department at News-Talk 1480 WHBC is aware of a problem with our website.  Please have patience, it will be fixed.

Have a great day!

Festivus for the rest of us

Don't forget the big Festivus show is coming up tomorrow.  Join us on the radio at three when we'll get the fun started with the airing of grievances.  If you haven't submitted your grievances, please fill out the form on Brady's show page. You'll find the link on the right side of this page.  Do you see it?  It's right there --->.  Fill out the form if you wish to remain anonymous.  If you don't care who hears you complain, feel free to call in after 3!

The show will conclude with the "feats of strength", and we'll also be talking with the guy who wrote the book on Festivus after the 4 o'clock news.

Friday is a fun day

My favorite day has arrived this week.....PAY DAY!!  I've been looking forward to this day for one reason alone.  I can finally finish my Christmas shopping.  And then, when people ask me if I've finished my shopping yet, I can reply with an emphatic "YES!  NOW STOP ASKING ME!!".  I hate when people ask, because it's almost always accusatory.  They're done with their shopping, so they want to show how superior they are that they had the foresight to go to the stores before Black Friday....or before the last pay day before Christmas.

So it's off to the mall and The Strip for some Christmas-y goodness.  Ah, I can feel it now!  The wading through the sea of humanity to get where I need to go, standing in line while people let their cattle....errrr, precious little children....run free through the stores, and then dealing with the demolition derby in the parking lots and on the streets.

Ah yes, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.

******FOLLOW UP******
When mentioned that I want a big storm to hit the area the other day, I was not aware that we were looking for a panhandle hook to come into the region this weekend.  I think I may get my wish after all!

******FOLLOW UP******
I just wanted to add more asterisks for Brady.  Evidently they are his favorite symbols found on a standard qwerty keyboard.  So, Brady, I thought it would be nice to hook you up with some sweet sweet asterisk-on-asterisk action.  Enjoy!  ***********************************************************************************************
